Jaipur does not grow Alphonso mangoes. The Pink City sits deep in Rajasthan, far from the Konkan coast. The only way to get genuine Hapus in Jaipur is to order directly from a GI-authorised source and let BlueDart do the rest.

AlphonsoMango.in carries two flagship products, both certified, both carbide-free.

Mangoes in Jaipur — online mango home delivery near me

Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes. The courier is tracked end-to-end.

Packaging uses corrugated mango-safe boxes with wood-shaving cushioning. Each mango travels in its own sleeve. The box keeps the fruit safe through Rajasthan's summer heat.

Mangoes are dispatched slightly firm so they survive transit. They will ripen to full softness within 1–2 days of arrival at room temperature (24–30 °C). Place them in a single layer on a tray, not in the fridge, until ripe. Once ripe, refrigerate and consume within 2–3 days.

We do not dispatch during extended heatwaves that could compromise fruit safety. That is a rare pause, but we make it when needed. Your money stays safe — full refund or rescheduled dispatch, your choice.

Where the Mangoes Come From

Alphonso mango in Jaipur — sourced from Ratnagiri and Devgad Konkan

The fruit comes from 48 villages across Ratnagiri and Devgad in Maharashtra's Konkan belt. These villages sit between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea. The laterite soil, coastal humidity, and salt-laced breeze create flavour no other geography can replicate.

Prashant Powle personally selects the orchards each season. The focus is on single-orchard lots where the farmer controls ripening naturally. Villages like Pawas in Ratnagiri and Devgad taluka produce fruit that meets export specifications year after year.

Mango trees in these orchards are decades old. Some specimens bear fruit for more than a hundred years. Old-root trees produce smaller yields but more concentrated sugar — that is where the Brix climbs to 22–23°.

What Makes Konkan Alphonso Different from Other Mangoes?

India grows over 1,000 mango varieties. Alphonso — locally called Hapus — earns its title as King of Mangoes because of one specific combination: high Brix, low fibre, thick saffron flesh, and an aroma that fills the room before you cut the fruit. No other variety delivers all four together.

The Geographical Indication (GI No. 139) legally protects this name. Only mangoes grown in the notified zone of Ratnagiri and Devgad districts can carry the GI tag. AlphonsoMango.in holds GI Authorised User status AU/5974/GI/139/260 — verified by the Registry certificate 4163, issued 16 October 2019.

How to Spot Authentic Alphonso

Real Alphonso mangoes do not have uniform red colour. A fully ripe Hapus is predominantly yellow-saffron. A fruit that is entirely red or unnaturally bright orange may have been artificially ripened.

Four quick checks at delivery:

  1. Colour: Saffron-yellow base, sometimes a faint red blush on one cheek. Never uniform cherry red.
  2. Aroma: Strong floral-honeyed scent even before cutting. No smell means it was harvested too early or ripened artificially.
  3. Texture: Gentle give under thumb pressure when ripe. A rock-hard fruit needs 1–2 more days. A mushy fruit is overripe.
  4. Flesh: Deep saffron, minimal fibre, creamy consistency. The seed is thin and flat, not round.

Local markets in Jaipur occasionally sell generic mangoes labelled "Alphonso." Without GI certification traceability, there is no way to verify origin. Buying directly from a GI-authorised source removes that uncertainty entirely.

Natural Ripening — No Carbide

AlphonsoMango.in uses only traditional hay-bed ripening. Harvested fruit is laid in dry paddy straw (hay) beds where the natural ethylene the mango produces accumulates gently around each fruit. The process takes 3–5 days post-harvest.

Calcium carbide ripening is illegal under FSSAI regulations. It forces colour change but destroys aroma compounds and leaves harmful residues. The difference is unmistakable in taste — carbide-ripened fruit is sweet but flat; naturally ripened Alphonso carries its full flavour spectrum, including the slight tartness near the skin that balances the sugar.

How do you know it was hay-ripened?

The aroma tells you. Carbide-ripened fruit smells faintly chemical or has no smell at all at room temperature. Hay-ripened Alphonso announces itself from across the room. That is the check buyers in Jaipur can apply the moment the box opens.

Nutrition and Health Benefits

Alphonso mango is nutrient-dense. One 100 g serving contains approximately 60 kcal, 15 g carbohydrates, 1 g protein, 0.4 g fat, and 1.6 g dietary fibre.

  • Vitamin C: Unripe Alphonso is high in ascorbic acid. As the fruit ripens, Vitamin C converts partly to beta-carotene (Vitamin A).
  • Beta-carotene: Increases sharply at full ripeness. Supports vision and immune function.
  • Antioxidants: Mangiferin, catechins, quercetin, kaempferol, rhamnetin — all present. These compounds protect cells from free-radical damage.
  • Digestive enzymes: Amylases in ripe mango aid carbohydrate breakdown.
  • Glycemic index: Approximately 51 — classified as a low-to-medium GI food. Moderate consumption is generally compatible with a managed diet.

People with diabetes should note that 90% of mango calories come from natural sugars. Portion size matters. One medium Alphonso (about 200 g) is a reasonable serving.

Mango Season Calendar

Alphonso mango season is sharp and short. It does not extend year-round. Jaipur buyers who wait too long in the year will find nothing available.

Month Availability Notes
February – March Season opens The 2027 mango season starts on 1 February 2027, and fresh mangoes are out of stock until then.
April Season continues Quantities build up; early fruit commands a premium price.
May Peak season Best quality and widest grade selection.
June Late season Monsoon onset ends the harvest by mid-June.
July – January Not available Fresh Alphonso is gone. Mango pulp available year-round.

AlphonsoMango.in does not sell fresh Alphonso outside the February to June window. This is an honest limitation. If you want year-round mango flavour, Alphonso mango pulp is available throughout the year.
