Hafooz Mangoes: The Ultimate Premium Quality Experience - AlphonsoMango.in

Hafooz mango is another spelling of Hapus, the Marathi name for Alphonso. Premium Hafooz comes from Ratnagiri and Devgad on the Konkan coast, hand-picked and ripened naturally. At AlphonsoMango.in a dozen starts from Rs 1,849 and ships by Blue Dart.

What is Hafooz mango?

Hafooz is one of many spellings of the same fruit. Hapus is the Marathi name for the Alphonso mango, and buyers who say it aloud write it as Hafus, Hafoos, Hafooz, Haphus or Hapoos. They all point to the Konkan Alphonso, the mango that grows along the Arabian Sea coast of Maharashtra. If you searched for Hafooz aam, Hafus aam or Hafooz mango, this page is about the same fruit as our Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso.

Hafooz mango, the Konkan Alphonso or Hapus, from Ratnagiri and Devgad

We are Powle Home Foods, a Mumbai business that runs AlphonsoMango.in. We sell Hafooz (Alphonso) by the dozen, and we ship across India by Blue Dart. This guide explains what premium quality means in practice, what to ask a seller, how our fruit is harvested and ripened, and what to expect on price and delivery.

What premium quality means for Hafooz mango

Seller pages use the word premium freely, so it helps to say what we mean by it. For us, premium is a list of things you can check rather than an adjective.

What to look for in premium Hafooz mango
What to check What we do
Origin Fruit comes from 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast.
Harvest Harvested at Brahma Muhurta, before sunrise, and hand-picked with a zela pole fitted with a catching net.
Ripening Ripened naturally on hay beds, with no carbide gas.
Size Sold by grade, from smaller fruit of about 150 g to larger fruit of about 275 g.
Paperwork FSSAI licence 10020022011783, and a GI Authorised User certificate for Alphonso.

Every fruit is a natural product, so no checklist makes each mango perfect. They do tell you the seller is willing to be specific, which is the best sign of a serious one.

Ratnagiri and Devgad Hafooz

Ratnagiri is a district of Maharashtra, and Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district to its south. Both grow the Alphonso, and both are sold as Hapus. We list them as separate products so you can choose the one you prefer, and we do not rank one above the other. Pick by fruit size and number of dozens, not by the place name alone.

The order pages are Ratnagiri Alphonso Mango and Devgad Alphonso Mango. For more on the two coastal areas, read our guide to Ratnagiri and Devgad Hapus.

GI certification and Hafooz mango

The Alphonso grown in this region is covered by a Geographical Indication. We hold the GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139) for GI-certified Alphonso, and you can read the details on our Brand Facts page. If you want to understand what a GI tag does and does not prove, our guide to the Alphonso mango GI tag covers it. A GI record tells you about origin and authorised use. It does not tell you how a particular box was ripened, which is why we also explain our ripening method.

How we harvest and ripen Hafooz mango

Hapus Hafooz mangoes from the Konkan coast of Maharashtra

Harvest starts at Brahma Muhurta, the hour before sunrise. Pickers use a zela, a long pole with a net at the end, so the fruit is cut from the tree and caught without falling. After harvest the mangoes are laid on hay and ripen naturally. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds.

The reason we say this plainly is that selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide (acetylene) gas is prohibited under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. Our guide to identifying carbide-ripened mangoes lists the clues and their limits. No single colour or water test settles the question.

Hafooz mango price and box sizes

Hafooz is sold by the dozen, and the price follows fruit size and the number of dozens. Ratnagiri Alphonso at AlphonsoMango.in starts from Rs 1,849 for one dozen and goes up to Rs 5,399 for the largest option. Devgad Alphonso starts from Rs 1,849. Prices can change, so check the product page for the price on the day you order.

A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on the grade. We do not quote per-kilogram prices, because a kilogram price hides the fruit size and grade. Compare boxes by size and dozens instead. There is no GST on fresh mangoes, and the invoice shows it.

Delivery and care at home

We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Check your PIN code at checkout, because we do not promise a day for any named city. When the box arrives, unpack it on arrival and look at every fruit. Spread the mangoes on a tray in a cool, shaded room. Firm fruit keeps ripening at room temperature, and it is ready when it gives slightly at the stalk end and smells sweet. If any fruit is damaged in transit, tell us within 24 hours of delivery. Our guide to ripening Alphonso mango has the full method.

Choosing a size and quantity

Smaller fruit, at about 150 g, is easy to eat whole and suits children and small households. Larger fruit, up to about 275 g, gives more pulp per mango and suits slicing for guests or making aamras. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on the grade, so one dozen feeds a small household for several days. A second dozen suits a family that eats a lot of mango or wants to share some with relatives. If you are unsure, start with one dozen and tell us what you would like to try next time. Our guide to identifying a genuine Alphonso also helps you judge what a good box looks and smells like.

Hafooz mango in the off-season, and bulk orders

Fresh Hafooz is a seasonal fruit. Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May, and our 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Fresh fruit is not sold outside the season. For the rest of the year, Alphonso Mango Pulp tins start from Rs 590 in 850 g and 3.1 kg sizes. Many families use pulp for aamras, shakes and mango ice cream. Our aamras recipe shows one way to use it.

We also supply restaurants and hotels. If you need a larger quantity, write to us with the quantity, the city and the dates, and we will tell you what is possible.
