Hapus Mango Online: Your One-Stop Shop - AlphonsoMango.in

Hapus mango is the Marathi name for Alphonso, and you can buy Hapus mango online from AlphonsoMango.in, with dozens from Rs 1,849. We source it from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt and dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of PIN codes get next-day delivery.

What Hapus means

Hapus is the Marathi name for the Alphonso mango. The same fruit is Alphonso in English, हापुस in Marathi and Hindi, and Hapus aam or Hapus amba in everyday speech. It grows on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra, and the variety is named after Afonso de Albuquerque. The pulp is described as rich, creamy and non-fibrous, and a ripe fruit smells sweet near the stalk.

If you came here asking which one is the "real" name, the answer is that both are. Alphonso is what the export trade and most websites say. Hapus is what a family in Pune or Ratnagiri says when it asks for the fruit. This page uses both so that you find it either way.

Hapus, Hafus, Hapoos: one fruit

Because Hapus is written in Devanagari and spoken in several accents, search engines see many spellings: Hapus, Hafus, Hafoos, Hapoos, Aphoos. They all point to the same fruit. Ratnagiri Hapus and Devgad Hapus are the same variety grown in two places on the Konkan coast. Devgad is a taluka in Sindhudurg district, and Ratnagiri is a district. We do not rank one above the other.

How to buy Hapus mango online

  1. Open a product page. Choose the Ratnagiri Hapus or the Devgad Hapus.
  2. Pick the grade and the dozen. The page lists each option with its price. Check the product page for the price of the one you want.
  3. Enter your PIN code at checkout. We dispatch by Blue Dart. About 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery, and the rest take longer.
  4. Receive and ripen. Open the box the day it arrives and follow the ripening notes below.

Our Alphonso dozens start from Rs 1,849, and the largest Ratnagiri option goes up to Rs 5,399. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. We do not quote per-kilo prices, since grade changes the weight of a box. There is no GST on fresh mangoes, and the invoice shows this. You can also browse the mango collection.

Choosing the grade and the origin

Alphonso fruits generally weigh 150 to 300 g, and our dozens are graded by size. The grade changes the price, not the variety. Pick by how you plan to use the fruit:

  • Eating at the table: a medium grade is enough for most families.
  • Gifting: a larger grade looks better in the box.
  • Aamras, lassi or sheera: grade matters less, so a smaller size keeps the cost down.

Ratnagiri and Devgad are both from the Konkan belt, and both are Hapus. If you want to try both, order a dozen from each and compare them at home. We source from 48 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt.

What to check before you pay

Many people ask for the best place to buy Hapus mango online. We cannot judge other websites, so here is the list we would use on any seller, including us.

  • Does the listing name the variety and the region?
  • Does it say how the fruit was ripened, and will the seller say so in writing?
  • Is the FSSAI licence shown?
  • Can the seller show a GI number for Alphonso? Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is GI-tagged in India (GI No. 139). We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139), and the details are on our Brand Facts page.
  • Does the checkout let you check your PIN code before you pay?

Storing and eating Hapus

Keep firm mangoes at room temperature, in a single layer, in a dry and open place away from direct sun. Do not put unripe mangoes in the fridge, because cold slows ripening. When a fruit gives slightly under gentle thumb pressure and smells sweet near the stalk, it is ready. Ripe fruit can go in the fridge for a few days.

To cut a mango, slice the two cheeks away from the central seed and score them in a grid, or scoop with a spoon. Many families eat it with warm puris, and a pinch of salt on a slice is a habit in some homes. The fruit also goes into aamras, lassi, kulfi and mango sheera. Our guide to mango for baby covers first foods, and please ask your paediatrician before you start any new food.

Mango is a source of vitamin C: 100 g of raw mango provides about 36 mg, roughly 40% of the Daily Value. That figure is for mango in general. If you have diabetes or another health condition, ask your doctor or dietitian how much mango suits you.

How we ripen Hapus

We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide gas is prohibited in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. Ask any seller of Hapus how the fruit was ripened, and ask for the answer in writing. No home test, including the water or bucket test, proves it.

Our fruit is hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, and harvest is done at Brahma Muhurta, before dawn. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Since our first offline sales in 2019 and online sales from 2020, 47,000+ customers have bought from us, including offline and marketplace sales.

Season and off-season options

Hapus is harvested from about February to June, and the best supply runs from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Hapus, and fresh listings show as unavailable. If a website offers fresh Konkan Hapus in the wrong months, ask where it was grown and how long it has been stored.

You can order our Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin in any month. It comes in 850 g and 3.1 kg tins, from Rs 590. APEDA describes mango pulp as sterilised and packed in aseptic bags or hermetically sealed cans. A tin is a practical way to make aamras, lassi or sheera out of season.

Choose a delivery address where someone can receive the box, add a phone number the courier can reach, and report any damage within 24 hours of delivery by writing to support@alphonsomango.in.
