Choosing among mango sellers online comes down to five questions: how the fruit was ripened, where it grew, which courier carries it, what unit the price covers, and who you can call. We answer each one for our Alphonso below, and you can ask the same of any seller.
Search for a mango seller and you find hundreds of pages that look alike. Photos are similar, every one says "authentic", and prices are hard to compare. This guide is written by the seller you are about to judge, so read it with that in mind and check every point yourself. We are AlphonsoMango.in, run by Powle Home Foods in Mumbai. Our first sales were offline in 2019, online sales began in 2020, and more than 47,000 customers, including offline and marketplace sales, have bought from us.
Five questions for any mango seller
Before you pay anyone for a box of mangoes, get a clear answer to these.
- How was the fruit ripened? A seller should be able to say it plainly. Carbide ripening is prohibited in India.
- Where did it grow, and can you show it? "Konkan" is not an origin, and a certificate number is easy to quote and easy to check.
- Which courier carries it, and is my PIN code served?
- What does the price cover? A dozen, a box or a kilo, and what that unit weighs.
- Who do I contact if something goes wrong, and by when?

We are an FSSAI-licensed seller, and our FSSAI page has the licence details. Our Brand Facts page lists the rest in one place so you can check it against what we say here.
Ripening and carbide
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide, which gives off acetylene gas, is prohibited in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. The permitted alternative is ethylene, up to 100 ppm.
Be careful with any seller who tells you a quick test proves anything. Skin colour, a bucket of water or a smell test are rough clues, not proof. The only reliable answer is the seller's own account of how the fruit was ripened, backed by a licence you can look up. Our guide to carbide-ripened mangoes explains the limits of each test.
Where the fruit comes from
Alphonso from the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt is GI-tagged in India (GI No. 139). We sell it in two forms, Ratnagiri Alphonso from Ratnagiri district and Devgad Alphonso from Devgad taluka in Sindhudurg district. They are the same variety, and we do not rank one above the other. Choose by the grade and size you want.
Our fruit is harvested at Brahma Muhurta, the pre-dawn hour, and hand-harvested with a zela pole fitted with a catching net, so the fruit is not shaken off the tree. A seller who cannot describe how the fruit was picked is a seller to question. Read how to identify authentic Hapus for more on what to ask.
Price, grade and box size
Online mango prices are hard to compare because sellers use different units. A box, a dozen and a kilo are three different things. Our Alphonso is priced by the dozen, from Rs 1,849, and the largest Ratnagiri option goes up to Rs 5,399. The difference between those two figures is grade and size, not a different mango. Check the product page for the current price.
When you compare two sellers, ask for the weight of the pack and the grade of the fruit, then divide yourself. A cheaper dozen of small fruit is not the same offer as a dearer dozen of large fruit. We do not quote a per-kilo price, and you should be wary of any seller who quotes one without saying the grade. Our Alphonso price guide goes through this in detail.
Courier and delivery
Fresh mango is perishable, so the courier matters as much as the fruit. We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. We do not name a delivery time for a particular city, because it depends on your PIN code, which you can check at checkout. Alphonso takes about 15 days from harvest to full ripeness, so a box that arrives firm is normal. Keep it at room temperature, out of direct sun, and refrigerate only ripe fruit.
Our mango delivery guide explains packing and transit, and the shipping policy is the page to read before you order.
Season honesty
The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Alphonso is harvested from about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso, and the Alphonso Mango Pulp Tin is the product that stays available all year, from Rs 590. A seller who offers fresh Alphonso for delivery outside the season should explain which variety it is and where it was stored.
After the box arrives
Open the box on the day it arrives and lay the fruit in a single layer. If something is wrong, report damage within 24 hours of delivery by writing to support@alphonsomango.in or calling 8369048029. We have not published a fixed remedy on this page, so read the return policy and ask us about your case. Our short note on what to do if you receive a bad mango covers the practical steps.
Other products we sell
We are not only a mango seller. The pictures on this page show two other products from our range, Sweet Tamarind and a dried fruit snack, and the dry fruits collection has more. They ship the same way as our mangoes, with the same courier and the same PIN-code check at checkout.
Restaurants, hotels and gifting
We supply restaurants and hotels, and we can help with gifting. We have not published fixed terms for quantity, price breaks or custom packing, so write to us with the quantity, the cities and the dates, and we will answer. Start with the HoReCa page or the gifting page.

People also ask
How do I choose a trustworthy mango seller online?
Ask how the fruit was ripened, where it grew, which courier carries it, what the price covers and who to contact if the box arrives damaged. A seller who answers plainly, names a certificate or licence, and admits when fresh fruit is out of season is easier to trust than one who only says authentic.
Where can I buy Alphonso mangoes online?
You can order GI-certified Alphonso from Ratnagiri and Devgad on AlphonsoMango.in, from Rs 1,849 per dozen. We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027, and fresh fruit is not sold outside it.
How can I tell if an online mango seller is genuine?
No single test proves it. Ask for the origin and the certificate number, ask how the fruit was ripened, and check that the seller holds a food licence. Skin colour and the water test are rough clues, not proof. Our certificate is AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139) for Alphonso.
Do you sell mangoes outside India?
We ship directly to the UAE. For other countries, such as the UK, Singapore, Malaysia or Saudi Arabia, shipments have been arranged through the customer's contact abroad, which is not a standard service. Rules differ by country, so check current rules with your importer or customs agent and write to us first.
