If you are buying for the first time and can't decide, choose by geography of the people eating the fruit. North Indian palates in our data lean toward Ratnagiri's pronounced aroma. Coastal Maharashtra buyers come back to Devgad for its higher sugar consistency. Both are carbide-free, independently lab-tested by Envirocare Labs, Thane (NABL, certificate TC-8284), all 28 residues within Codex limits.

Delivery Across India

Fruit is dispatched at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to survive transit, fully ripe within about three days of delivery. The journey from tree to your door takes 48–72 hours for harvest-to-dispatch, then 20–24 hours to metro cities and up to three days elsewhere. We cover 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes.

The courier is BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code. We do not fix one carrier for the whole country because no single carrier covers every serviceable pin code well.

Each box is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) courier-grade carton, 130 gsm, with reinforced corners, a 12-slot partition that takes the transit pressure instead of the fruit, and six air holes top and bottom. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm) on a hay bed. The foam net prevents skin friction — Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed — and the diamond mesh keeps air moving so condensation evaporates rather than triggering anthracnose.

If fruit arrives transit-damaged or fails on quality, report it within 24 hours of delivery with photos or video on WhatsApp. We dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account for the next purchase. No physical return is needed.

How to Order

  1. Select your grade and variety. Choose Ratnagiri (₹1,849–₹5,399) or Devgad (₹1,849–₹5,499) on the product page. Pick the weight grade — Small, Medium, Extra Large or Jumbo — that suits your household size or gifting need. Box options are half dozen, one dozen and two dozen.
  2. Add to cart and complete checkout. Enter your delivery pin code at checkout. The system confirms serviceability and assigns the right courier for your area.
  3. We pack and dispatch. Your order ships via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code and reaches most Indian cities in 1–3 days.

Pre-orders placed before the season opens can be cancelled before dispatch. Once dispatch happens, cancellations are not possible — only the replacement or credit policy applies.

Where Our Mango Fruit Mangoes Come From

Prashant Powle sources from 55 named villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts in Konkan, Maharashtra. On the Ratnagiri side: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade, Purnagad, Gaonkhadi, Ambeshet, Mirya, Kalbadevi, Majgaon, Kasheli and Adi, among others. On the Sindhudurg/Devgad side: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Kunkeshwar, Mithbav, Tambaldeg and 16 more villages.

Our 100+ partner farmer families work orchards that are typically 12–25 years old, sea-facing, selected on Brix consistency and alternate-bearing management. Cultivation follows strict SOPs covering natural sprays and fertilisers from flowering through harvest. We have served 47,000+ customers since 2019; 46% reorder within the same season or the next, averaging 2.8 boxes per customer per season.

What is Gir Kesar mango, and where does it come from?

Kesar is a separate variety entirely. It holds GI Tag No. 185, covering Junagadh district in Gujarat — the Girnar foothills and Gir forest belt around Talala. It does not grow in Konkan. We source all Kesar from Junagadh. The saffron-coloured flesh and distinct floral aroma are specific to the Girnar microclimate, not a Konkan characteristic. Do not confuse it with Alphonso, which grows only in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

How We Ripen Mango Fruit

Every fruit we sell is ripened on a hay bed — the traditional Aadi method — in temperature-controlled rooms at our Mumbai packhouse. No ethylene chambers. No calcium carbide. No artificial ripening agents of any kind.

The process runs for 24–48 hours after the fruit arrives at the Mumbai packhouse by air-conditioned vehicle from Ratnagiri or Devgad. That 24–48 hours is natural ripening monitored by hand and eye, not gas-triggered. The fruit leaves us at 70–80% ripeness and reaches full ripeness within about three days at your end, at room temperature.

Fruit also goes through a controlled hot-water treatment after harvest to reduce surface issues and extend shelf life, followed by post-harvest cooling at the packhouse before the AC transport run to Mumbai.

Why does carbide ripening matter?

Calcium carbide is banned for use in food ripening in India under FSSAI regulations. It produces acetylene gas, which forces colour change without developing the sugars or aroma that make Alphonso worth eating. A carbide-ripened Alphonso looks yellow on the outside and tastes flat inside. Hay-bed ripening lets the fruit's own ethylene do the work over two days. The difference is audible: a properly ripened Alphonso has a heavier, denser feel in the hand and a floral scent at the stem end.

Grading and Quality Checks

Every mango is weighed and graded at our Malvan packing centre or Devgad packing point. An AI/ML-assisted machine scan checks each fruit for internal issues — spongy tissue in particular — and external deformities before packing. We assumed visual sorting by hand was enough; the grading machine proved otherwise, catching internal spongy tissue that would have looked perfectly fine to the eye.

What is spongy tissue in Alphonso mango?

Spongy tissue is a physiological disorder where patches of the flesh remain hard, dry and flavourless even after the fruit is fully ripe outside. It is more common in fruit from trees that experienced heat stress during fruit development. Our machine-scan process flags these before packing. Fruit with spongy tissue does not leave our packhouse.

What are the weight grades for Alphonso?

Small: 150–180 g. Medium: 180–225 g. Extra Large: 250–275 g. Jumbo: 275–300 g. Jumbo fruit from Devgad orchards in peak season (March–April) regularly hits the upper end of this band. Medium grade suits most household purposes and is the most ordered size in our 47,000+ customer base.

Nutrition in Mango Fruit Mangoes

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). Alphonso pulp also contains mangiferin, a polyphenol studied for anti-inflammatory activity in cell research (Govindappa et al., 2011). That is a cell study — not a clinical trial — so we state it as background science, not a health claim.

Alphonso puree is used as a weaning food from about 6 months. That is a serving suggestion based on product FAQs, not medical advice. Ask your paediatrician if in doubt.

Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024 — a district-product recognition, not an award to AlphonsoMango.in specifically.

Storage After Delivery

When your box arrives, the fruit is at 70–80% ripeness. Leave it at room temperature for about two to three days. Do not refrigerate at this stage — cold halts the ripening and the aroma never develops properly. Once fully ripe (the stem end softens slightly and the whole fruit smells floral), move it to the refrigerator. Ripe Alphonso keeps for two to four days chilled. Eat it at room temperature — the cold dulls the flavour.

If you receive the fruit and it already feels very soft, report it within 24 hours with photos or video on WhatsApp. We replace or credit. No return needed.

Season and Availability

Fresh mango fruit mangoes are available February to June only. The peak is March to May, when Brix readings across our sourcing villages run 18–24° consistently. July to January: we sell no fresh Alphonso. The tree does not produce harvestable fruit outside the season, and no responsible seller can supply genuine GI-tagged Alphonso in December.

The 2027 season opens 1 February 2027. Both products above are currently out of stock. You can place a pre-order, which is cancellable before dispatch.

Off-season, the site carries Alphonso mango pulp, Aamras, cashews, dates, saffron and dry fruits — none of which are substitutes for fresh fruit, but the pulp is processed from peak-season Ratnagiri Alphonso and is available year-round.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of mango fruit mangoes from AlphonsoMango.in?

Fresh Alphonso and Kesar mango season runs February to June, peaking March to May. No fresh mangoes are available July to January. The 2027 season opens 1 February 2027; both products are out of stock until then.

How long does mango delivery take across India?

Metro cities receive mangoes in 20–24 hours from dispatch. Most other Indian cities get delivery in 1–3 days. We cover 15,000–17,000 pin codes via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your location.

People Also Ask

What is the difference between mangoes and mangos?

Both spellings are correct. "Mangoes" follows the standard English rule for nouns ending in a vowel plus "o" — add "es". "Mangos" is an accepted alternate plural used widely in American English. Either form refers to the same fruit. Indian usage, including food labels and agri-export documents, almost always spells it "mangoes".

What are the benefits of eating mangos?

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g, meeting about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 daily requirement for adult men. The fruit also supplies dietary fibre, beta-carotene and the polyphenol mangiferin, which showed anti-inflammatory activity in a 2011 cell study by Govindappa et al. Natural ripening without carbide preserves these compounds intact.

Are mangoes or mangos?

"Mangoes" is the preferred spelling in Indian English, British English and most international food and trade writing. "Mangos" is equally valid in American English. Both plurals appear in reputable dictionaries. If you are writing for an Indian audience — labelling, menus, agri-export documents — use "mangoes"; it matches APEDA and FSSAI convention.

What are the four types of mangoes?

India has hundreds of mango varieties, but four dominate the market: Alphonso (Hapus) from Konkan, Kesar from Junagadh in Gujarat, Dasheri from Uttar Pradesh, and Langra from Varanasi. Each ripens at a different point in the February–June season and carries a distinct flavour, sugar level and growing geography.

On this site we stock GI-tagged Alphonso from Ratnagiri and Devgad, and Gir Kesar from Junagadh — the two varieties with formal GI protection and the most consistent Brix readings in our sourcing network.
