Buy Alphonso Mango in Delhi
Delhi buyers have two genuine options from us: Ratnagiri Alphonso and Devgad Alphonso. Both carry GI No. 139. Both are sourced from Konkan villages and dispatched from Mumbai within 48–72 hours of harvest. Neither is available July through January — that is the honest limit of working with a seasonal fruit.

Delivery to Delhi
Fruit leaves our Mumbai packhouse by BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees — the courier depends on your specific Delhi pin code. Transit to Delhi takes 1–3 days for most addresses, and 20–24 hours to major metro areas within that window.
We dispatch at 70–80% ripeness. The fruit is firm enough for transit and ripens fully within about three days of delivery. If it arrives underripe, leave it at room temperature. If it arrives transit-damaged, photograph or video the fruit and packaging within 24 hours of delivery and send it to us on WhatsApp. No physical return is needed — we replace the fruit with a fresh dispatch or credit your account for the next purchase.
What is inside the box?
Each mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm, length 100–120 mm by fruit size) on a hay bed inside a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box — 130 gsm paper, reinforced corners, a 12-slot partition that carries transit pressure instead of the fruit, and six air holes top and bottom. The foam net prevents the skin friction that blackens Alphonso lenticels. The box options are half dozen, 1 dozen and 2 dozen.
What Alphonso Delhi buyers should know about carbide
Delhi markets do sell Alphonso during the season, but carbide-ripened fruit is common in wholesale channels. Ours uses no calcium carbide, no ethylene chambers, no artificial ripening agents. Every fruit goes through natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening in temperature-controlled rooms at the Mumbai packhouse — the 24–48 hours there is monitored ripening on hay, not gas-triggered. Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd. (Thane, NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284) tested our fruit in April 2025; all 28 residues were within Codex maximum residue limits, 27 of 28 below the limit of quantification at 0.01 mg/kg.
Where These Mangoes Come From
Prashant Powle set up AlphonsoMango.in in 2017 and registered Powle Home Foods in July 2019. The sourcing network now covers 55 named villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts — from Pawas and Golap in Ratnagiri taluka to Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg and Kunkeshwar in Sindhudurg. The orchards are sea-facing, typically 12–25 years old, and selected on Brix consistency and alternate-bearing management.
Harvest uses a Nutan or Zela pole fitted with a catching net. The tree is never shaken. Fruit never falls. For tall trees, we use an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera. From the tree, the fruit reaches the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse in about two hours, goes through post-harvest cooling and a hot-water treatment, then travels 10–12 hours in an air-conditioned vehicle to Mumbai. The full harvest-to-dispatch window is 48–72 hours.
How to Identify Genuine GI Alphonso
GI No. 139 covers Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts only. Our GI Registry Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019, confirms Powle Home Foods as Authorised User AU/5974/GI/139/260. Fruit sold at Delhi's Azadpur or Sadar Bazar markets may be Alphonso, but the supply chain there includes no such verification — you cannot confirm the district of origin or the ripening method.
Every fruit we sell is weighed, graded (Small 150–180 g; Medium 180–225 g; Extra Large 250–275 g; Jumbo 275–300 g) and scanned by AI/ML-assisted machine vision that checks each mango for spongy tissue and external deformities before packing. Rejected fruit does not ship.
Ripening: What Happens Before It Reaches You
At the Mumbai packhouse, mangoes rest on hay for 24–48 hours in temperature-controlled rooms. That is it. No gas, no chamber, no accelerant. The hay-bed method — called Aadi ripening in Konkan — is how Alphonso has been ripened for generations. When the fruit reaches you at 70–80% ripeness, three days at room temperature brings it to full flavour. The saffron-yellow skin and the absence of any chemical smell are the clearest indicators you have a naturally ripened fruit.
How to Order
- Select your grade and origin: Choose Ratnagiri Alphonso (₹1849–₹5399) or Devgad Alphonso (₹1849–₹5499), then pick your box size — half dozen, 1 dozen or 2 dozen.
- Add to cart and enter your Delhi pin code: The checkout confirms serviceability and shows the courier assigned to your pin code.
- Dispatch: Your order ships via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code; most Delhi addresses receive the box in 1–3 days from dispatch.
Pre-orders can be cancelled only before dispatch. Once the fruit is out for delivery, the standard replacement policy applies.
Nutrition and Season
What is the Brix level of Devgad Alphonso?
Brix at full ripeness runs 18–24° across both Ratnagiri and Devgad fruit. Devgad mangoes typically sit at the upper end of that band — which is why they attract buyers looking for the sweetest expression of the variety. Brix fluctuates through the season; early-season March fruit and peak-season April-May fruit differ noticeably.
Vitamin C and everyday nutrition
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily allowance for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for women (65 mg/day). Mangiferin, a xanthone found in the peel and pulp, showed anti-inflammatory activity in cell studies (Govindappa et al., 2011).
When is Alphonso available in Delhi?
The season runs February to June, with the peak in March, April and May. We do not sell fresh Alphonso July through January. If you are reading this outside the season, place a pre-order — it locks your slot for the next season without any obligation to pay in full now.

People Also Ask
Why is Alphonso so famous?
Alphonso carries GI No. 139 — a legal certification that ties the fruit to specific districts in Konkan Maharashtra, where sea-facing orchards and laterite soil produce Brix readings of 18 to 24°. No other Indian mango variety holds that combination of protected origin, natural sugar level, and saffron-yellow pulp colour.
Fruit from villages like Pawas, Golap, Devgad and Jamsande ripens on hay beds — no carbide, no ethylene — which preserves the aromatic esters that distinguish Alphonso from every supermarket alternative.
How much do Alphonso mangoes cost in Delhi?
Genuine GI-tagged Alphonso delivered to Delhi from AlphonsoMango.in starts at ₹1849 per box for Ratnagiri Alphonso and goes up to ₹5499 per box for Devgad Alphonso, depending on grade and box size. Half dozen, 1 dozen and 2 dozen box options are available during the February to June season.
Prices in Delhi's wholesale markets like Azadpur vary and rarely confirm district of origin or ripening method — two things the GI certificate and NABL lab report from Envirocare Labs give you when ordering online.
Where is Alphonso located?
Alphonso mangoes grow in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Konkan, Maharashtra — the only two districts covered by GI No. 139. Our sourcing spans 55 named villages, from Pawas, Golap and Mirya in Ratnagiri taluka to Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg and Kunkeshwar in Sindhudurg.
The orchards are sea-facing, typically 12 to 25 years old, and sit within about two hours of our Ratnagiri and Devgad packhouses — that proximity is why harvest-to-dispatch takes only 48 to 72 hours.
Which mango is better, Kesar or Alphonso?
Alphonso and Kesar are different fruits with separate GI tags — Alphonso holds GI No. 139 from Konkan Maharashtra, while Gir Kesar holds GI No. 185 from Junagadh and Gir in Gujarat. Alphonso pulp is firmer, less fibrous and reaches 18 to 24° Brix; Kesar is sweeter in aroma, softer, and preferred for aamras in Gujarat.
Delhi buyers who order from us consistently pick Ratnagiri Alphonso — that pattern holds across 47,000+ customer orders since 2020, though we stock both varieties during the season.
Prashant Powle was interviewed by The Economic Times in June 2026 as a GI-certified Alphonso grower and trader on weather impact and yield (Famous Alphonso mango is facing existential crisis this year). 46% of our customers reorder within the same or the following season.
