Mango Delivery By Post Office - AlphonsoMango.in

The post office has delivered mangoes. India Post partnered with the Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation to deliver mangoes in Karnataka. We do not use it. We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery.

India Post mango delivery: what it is

"Mango delivery by post office" is a real service, but it is run in particular programmes and not everywhere. In April 2020, during the lockdown, India Post and the Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation (KSMDMC) began delivering Karnataka mangoes to doorsteps, as reported by ThePrint. Farmers sent their fruit to a central post office, and postmen delivered the orders. Buyers ordered on the corporation's website, not at a post office counter.

ETV Bharat reported that India Post again delivered mangoes from the same corporation in a later season, with orders placed on the Karnataka KarSiri portal. Each box was reported to hold 3 kg, with delivery in 2 to 3 days, and the service was reported to cover Bengaluru, with plans to widen it.

Mango parcel delivered at the doorstep

Those are the reports. We are not India Post, and we do not run or manage this service, so we cannot confirm its current coverage, prices or timings. For that, check the corporation's portal or your local post office.

How the postal mango service works

As reported, the pattern is simple:

  1. A state agency or farmer group lists the mango varieties on a portal.
  2. You choose a variety and a box size and pay online.
  3. The fruit is collected from the farmer and handed to the postal network.
  4. A postman delivers the box to your address.

Two limits are worth knowing. First, the service has been tied to a state and its own growers, so it does not cover every mango or every PIN code. Second, you buy what the programme lists. If you want Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso from the Konkan, that is a different supply chain, and the postal programme in Karnataka does not offer it.

Post office, courier or seller: which route suits you

Three ways to get mangoes to a doorstep
Route Who it suits What to ask
A postal programme with a state agency Buyers in covered areas who want the varieties the agency lists Which PIN codes are covered, which varieties, and what the delivery time is
A courier you book yourself Someone sending fruit they already own to relatives Whether the courier accepts perishable fruit, and the fastest service to that PIN code
A seller that ships (like us) Buyers who want a named variety delivered with packing handled for them Where the fruit is grown, how it is ripened, which courier is used and how damage is handled

None of these is right for everyone. A postal programme can be lovely for local mangoes in season. A seller is the simpler route if you want Alphonso and do not want to pack, or to chase a courier yourself.

Sending mangoes yourself by post or courier

Many searches ask "how to send mangoes by courier in India" or "can I send mangoes through India Post". We cannot speak for the post office or any courier, because their rules on perishable parcels differ and can change. Ask the counter or the courier before you pack.

General sense helps, though. Alphonso takes about 15 days from harvest to ripening, so firm, mature fruit travels better than soft, ripe fruit. Pack in a sturdy box with cushioning between the fruit and a little room for air, avoid sealing fruit tightly in plastic, and book the fastest service that reaches the PIN code. Mangoes bruise easily, so a long journey is a risk with any carrier.

If you are sending a gift, you do not have to pack anything. Read our guide to sending mangoes online or the gifting page.

How we deliver

Mango delivery across India by Blue Dart from AlphonsoMango.in

We do not deliver through the post office. We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Whether your address is one of them depends on the PIN code, so we do not promise a fixed day. Enter your PIN code at checkout and you will see what applies.

  • Open the box on the day it arrives and check the fruit.
  • If anything arrives damaged, report it to us within 24 hours of delivery at support@alphonsomango.in or on 8369048029.
  • If the mangoes are firm, keep them at room temperature, away from direct sun, until they smell sweet near the stalk. Refrigerate only once the fruit is ripe.

Delivery inside India is a regular service. We ship directly to the UAE. For other countries, shipments have been arranged through the customer's contact abroad, and that is not a standard service, so please write to us first. Our guide to Indian mangoes for export explains the general rules.

What to check before you order mangoes online

Buy authentic Ratnagiri Alphonso mango GI tagged certified Hapus Aam

  • Where the fruit is grown. We source from 48 villages across the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt on the Konkan coast. Alphonso from this belt is GI-tagged in India (GI No. 139).
  • Credentials. We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139), and we are an FSSAI-licensed seller. See our Brand Facts page.
  • How it is ripened. Selling fruit ripened with calcium carbide (acetylene) gas is prohibited under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. Ask any seller. We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds.
  • Fruit count and weight. A dozen Alphonso weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade. Compare the dozen size, not just the price.
  • Damage policy. Ask what happens if a box arrives damaged, and how soon you must report it.

No home test, including the bucket or water test, proves how a mango was ripened. It is a rough clue at best, not proof. A clear answer from the seller counts for more.
