Why people order Ratnagiri Hapus for home delivery
Hapus is the Marathi name for Alphonso, and Ratnagiri is the district that gave the fruit much of its fame. Ratnagiri lies on the Konkan coast of Maharashtra, and the fruit from this belt is GI-tagged in India under GI No. 139. We hold GI Authorised User certificate AU/5974/GI/139/260 (GI No. 139). Most families who order from us live far from the coast and want the fruit at the door, not a trip to a market.

We are Powle Home Foods in Mumbai, and we run AlphonsoMango.in. We have sold mangoes since 2019 offline and online since 2020, serving 47,000+ customers, including offline and marketplace sales. Our fruit is sourced across 55 villages of the Ratnagiri and Devgad belt. This page is about the practical side: how to order, what arrives, and what to do with the box.
Choosing your dozen
Alphonso is sold by the dozen, not by weight. A dozen weighs roughly 1.8 to 3.3 kg depending on grade, because individual fruits run from about 150 g to 300 g. Smaller grades cost less per dozen; larger grades cost more. Our Ratnagiri Alphonso Mango page starts at Rs 1,849 per dozen and goes up to Rs 5,399 for the largest option. The order-online listing collects box sizes in one place, up to Rs 10,499 for the largest.
- For eating at home: a smaller grade usually gives more fruit for the money.
- For gifting: a larger grade looks better in the box; see our gifting page.
- For aamras: grade hardly matters; the pulp tin is an alternative.
- Want to compare belts? Order Devgad Alphonso too. Both are the same variety under the same GI.
Prices change with grade, so check the product page for today's price. Kesar (Rs 999 half-dozen, Rs 1,699 dozen) and Pairi (from Rs 2,799 per dozen) are separate fruits on their own pages.

How delivery works
We dispatch by Blue Dart, and about 65% of Indian PIN codes get next-day delivery. Orders received before 1 PM are dispatched the same day. Check your PIN code at checkout. That is the only timing statement we stand behind. We do not promise a delivery day for any named city, because it depends on the PIN code and the courier route.
Alphonso is harvested about February to June, with the best supply from March to May. The 2027 season opens on 1 February 2027. Outside the season we do not sell fresh Alphonso, so there is no point looking for a home-delivery date in October; the Alphonso mango pulp tin (850 g and 3.1 kg, from Rs 590) is available all year. Our delivery period guide covers timing in more detail, and the older note on Ratnagiri mango online delivery sits on this site too.
When the box arrives
Open it the day it arrives, in front of the person who received it if you can. Take every mango out and look at each one. A few firm fruit are normal. Harvest to ripening of Alphonso takes about 15 days, so some fruit finishes ripening at your home. If anything is damaged, report it within 24 hours of delivery to support@alphonsomango.in or 8369048029.
- Lay the mangoes in a single layer, stalk side up, on a clean table or tray.
- Keep them at room temperature, away from sun, the stove and air-conditioner vents.
- Check daily. A sweet smell at the stalk and a slight give at the shoulder mean ripe.
- Do not refrigerate firm fruit; cold stops ripening and dulls the aroma.
- Once soft, eat the fruit that day or chill it briefly.
Our ripening guide has the full method, including what to do when the whole box ripens together.
How we ripen the fruit
We do not use carbide. Our Alphonso mangoes are ripened naturally on hay beds. Calcium carbide is prohibited for ripening fruit in India under Regulation 2.3.5 of the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Regulations, 2011. We are an FSSAI-licensed seller. Our fruit is harvested before dawn, at Brahma Muhurta, and hand-picked with a zela pole fitted with a catching net.
No home test proves how a mango was ripened. The bucket-of-water test is a rough clue, not proof; ask any seller directly. Our guide to identifying Alphonso mango lists the questions worth asking.
What to make with it
Leave the first ripe mango plain, and eat it slowly. Judge the fruit before you judge any recipe: a good Alphonso needs no sugar, no cream and no spice. After that, the box can go in several directions, and having a plan stops fruit going soft unused. Share a few with neighbours if the box is large; ripe Alphonso does not wait.
A ripe Hapus is best eaten plain, cut into cheeks and cubed. For aamras, scoop the pulp, blend briefly, and chill; many families add nothing. Leftover pulp freezes in small containers. Raw mango provides about 36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g, roughly 40% of the Daily Value, a generic mango figure rather than an Alphonso-specific one. See our aamras recipe and mango nutrition facts.
