Buy Alphonso Mangoes — Bhubaneswar Delivery
Bhubaneswar sits roughly 1,700 km from Ratnagiri by road. By courier, that gap closes to 1–3 days. We dispatch via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code, and the fruit leaves our Mumbai packhouse at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to survive transit, fully ripe within about three days of delivery.
Ratnagiri vs Devgad: Which Should You Order?
Both varieties carry GI No. 139. The fruit weight, Brix and season window overlap significantly — but there are real differences worth knowing before you choose.
| Feature | Ratnagiri Alphonso | Devgad Alphonso |
|---|---|---|
| GI Coverage | GI No. 139, Ratnagiri district | GI No. 139, Sindhudurg district |
| Season Window | February – May (early peak) | February – June (slightly later) |
| Brix at Full Ripeness | 18 – 24° | 18 – 24° (typically upper end) |
| Fruit Weight (by grade) | 150 – 275 g and above | 150 – 275 g and above |
| Flavour Profile | Bright, citrus-edged sweetness | Richer, deeper sweetness — sea-facing orchards |
| Indicative Price (1 dozen) | ₹1,849 onwards | See the current price on the product page |
| Who Leans This Way | North India buyers (repeat-order data) | Mumbai buyers (repeat-order data) |
If you are ordering to Bhubaneswar and want the fullest sweetness, Devgad fruit from orchards around Jamsande or Vijaydurg tends to sit at the higher end of that 18–24° Brix range. Ratnagiri fruit from villages like Pawas or Nachane arrives slightly earlier in the season and carries a brighter acid note that many buyers prefer for Aamras.
Delivery Across India
Orders placed before 12 noon IST (Monday to Saturday) are dispatched the same day. Delivery takes 1 to 3 days for most PIN codes and 1 to 2 days to most metros, depending on your PIN code. Fresh mangoes are delivered by Blue Dart to more than 4,700 PIN codes.
The fruit leaves our Mumbai packhouse packed in a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box — 130 gsm paper, alternate flute orientation, reinforced corners, a 12-slot partition that takes transit pressure instead of the fruit, and six air holes top and bottom. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm, length 100–120 mm) on a hay bed. The foam net prevents skin friction, which matters because Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed.
We do not ship fresh Alphonso mangoes July to January. If you are reading this outside the February to June season, fresh mangoes are out of stock until the 2027 season starts on 1 February 2027, but you can browse Aamras and mango pulp available year-round.
Where These Mangoes Come From
We source from 48 coastal villages across Ratnagiri and Devgad — from Pawas and Golap in Ratnagiri taluka down to Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg and Kunkeshwar in Devgad taluka, and across Malvan and Vengurla talukas in Sindhudurg. Prashant Powle built this network starting in 2017, choosing orchards on three criteria: Brix consistency across the tree, age of the orchard (most are 12–25 years old), and how the farmer manages alternate-bearing years.
Over 100 partner farmer families supply us today. Each follows cultivation SOPs covering which natural sprays and fertilisers are applied from flowering through harvest. The fruit is hand-harvested using a Nutan/Zela pole fitted with a catching net — the tree is never shaken, the fruit never falls. For tall trees, an indigenously developed length-extending pole with a camera guides the cut.
How long does the journey from tree to your door take?
About 48–72 hours from harvest to dispatch. Two hours from tree to our Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse, post-harvest cooling, then 10–12 hours by air-conditioned vehicle to Mumbai. At the Mumbai packhouse, the fruit rests for 24–48 hours on a natural hay bed in temperature-controlled rooms before dispatch. Add 1–3 days transit to Bhubaneswar.
GI Tag and Authenticity
Alphonso mango holds GI Tag No. 139, covering Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Powle Home Foods holds Authorised User status under that tag: AU/5974/GI/139/260, GI Registry Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019. This is verifiable at the GI Registry.
Many sellers use "Hapus" or "Alphonso" as a marketing label. The GI designation means the fruit must originate in the specified districts, from registered orchards, under controlled conditions. We hold that registration. A fruit sold as Alphonso from outside Ratnagiri or Sindhudurg is legally not Alphonso — regardless of how it looks or tastes.
Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024. That is a district-product award, not an award to AlphonsoMango.in specifically — but it reflects the standing of the origin we source from.
Is the fruit independently tested for pesticide residues?
Yes. Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane (NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284) tested our fruit in April 2025 — certificate 01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025. All 28 residues were within Codex maximum residue limits. 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). Thiamethoxam was detected at 0.013 mg/kg against a Codex limit of 0.2 mg/kg. We say independently tested, all residues within Codex limits — not "pesticide-free," because one residue was detected within limits.
How We Ripen the Fruit
Natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening only, in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers, no calcium carbide, no artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours at our Mumbai packhouse is monitored natural ripening on hay — not gas-triggered.
We dispatch at 70–80% ripeness. Firm enough for the BlueDart or Delhivery van to Bhubaneswar. Ripe enough to eat within about three days of delivery. If you receive fruit that is transit-damaged or fails quality on arrival, report within 24 hours with photos or video on WhatsApp. We dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account. No physical return required.

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily allowance for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). A 2011 cell study by Govindappa et al. found anti-inflammatory activity linked to mangiferin, a compound present in Alphonso pulp — but that is a cell study, not a clinical trial, so we state the finding as preliminary.
Alphonso puree is suitable for babies from about 6 months as a first fruit — keep this as a serving suggestion, not medical advice, and speak to your paediatrician.
