Two varieties are available for mango purchase right now. Both ship from our packing centres in Malvan and Devgad to your door.

Both products carry documented GI tags. Neither is ripened with carbide or ethylene gas. If fruit arrives damaged or below quality, report it within 24 hours on WhatsApp with photos or video — we dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account. No physical return needed.

Ratnagiri vs Devgad vs Kesar

Choosing between varieties for your mango purchase comes down to origin, flavour profile and price point. This table uses only verified figures.

Our own repeat-order data from 47,000+ customers shows a clear split: buyers in north India lean Ratnagiri; buyers in Mumbai lean Devgad. We assumed it would be the reverse — proximity to Devgad favouring Mumbai — but the grading records showed otherwise.

Delivery Across India

Online mango purchase dispatch process — AlphonsoMango.in Konkan sourcing and delivery

From harvest to dispatch takes 48–72 hours. The sequence: fruit is hand-picked using a Nutan/Zela pole with a catching net so it never falls. It reaches the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse within two hours. After post-harvest cooling, air-conditioned vehicles carry it 10–12 hours to our Mumbai packhouse. There it rests on a hay bed for 24–48 hours — natural ripening, no gas — and then dispatches.

We ship via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code. Metro cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune) typically receive fruit in 20–24 hours from dispatch. Elsewhere in India: 1–3 days. We reach 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes.

The box is a 5-ply corrugated fibreboard (CFB) top-and-bottom design, 130 gsm, alternate flute orientation, with a 12-slot partition that absorbs transit pressure so the fruit doesn't. Every mango sits in a foam-net sleeve to prevent skin friction — Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed — and the six air holes in the box keep condensation from building up.

We do not ship fresh Alphonso or Kesar between July and January. That is the honest limit of seasonal fruit.

How to Order

  1. Step 1 — Select your grade. Choose Devgad Alphonso (₹1,849–₹5,499) or Kesar Mango (₹999–₹1,699) on the product page; pick the box size (half dozen, 1 dozen or 2 dozen) that fits your household or gifting need.
  2. Step 2 — Add to cart and checkout. Enter your delivery pin code at checkout — the system confirms courier availability and estimated delivery window before you pay.
  3. Step 3 — We dispatch. BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees picks up from our Mumbai packhouse; most Indian cities receive the fruit within 1–3 days. You get a tracking link by SMS or email.

GI Certification Explained

GI Tag No. 139 covers Alphonso mangoes grown in Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. Powle Home Foods holds Authorised User status: AU/5974/GI/139/260, GI Registry Certificate No. 4163, issued 16 October 2019. Devgad fruit carries an additional authorisation: AU/6932.

The GI designation is not a marketing label. It is a legal instrument under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999. A mango sold as "GI Alphonso" without authorisation is a misrepresentation. When you make a mango purchase on this site, the GI number on the box is traceable to the Registry.

What does the GI number mean for pesticide testing?

GI status does not substitute for lab testing. We test weekly through the season at Envirocare Labs Pvt. Ltd., Thane — NABL accredited, certificate TC-8284. The April 2025 report (01/ETHAP2500044, issued 5 April 2025) found all 28 residues within Codex maximum residue limits; 27 of 28 were below the limit of quantification (0.01 mg/kg). One residue, thiamethoxam, was detected at 0.013 mg/kg against a permitted limit of 0.2 mg/kg. We say "independently tested, all residues within Codex limits" — not "pesticide-free."

How We Ripen the Fruit

Natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening only, in temperature-controlled rooms. No ethylene chambers, no calcium carbide, no artificial ripening agents of any kind. The 24–48 hours at the Mumbai packhouse is monitored hay-bed ripening — not gas-triggered.

Fruit leaves the packhouse at 70–80% ripeness, firm enough to survive transit without bruising. It reaches full ripeness within about three days of delivery at room temperature. If you refrigerate it immediately on arrival, you slow that process and lose some aroma. Let it sit on the counter first.

Why hay and not a gas chamber?

Ethylene gas and calcium carbide both force uniform colour development before the sugar chemistry completes. Hay ripening lets the fruit follow its own metabolic curve. The Brix — 18 to 24° in a fully ripe Alphonso — reflects actual sugar accumulation, not surface colour forced by a chemical trigger. Devgad fruit from villages like Jamsande and Vijaydurg, which face the Arabian Sea, typically reads at the upper end of that range in peak April and May.

Nutrition at a Glance

Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 recommended daily allowance for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day).

Mangoes also contain vitamin A precursors (alpha and beta carotene) which support eye health, and mangiferin, a polyphenol studied for anti-inflammatory activity in a cell study by Govindappa et al. (2011). That is a cell study, not a clinical trial — we won't overstate it.

Alphonso puree is suitable as a food for babies from about six months old. Treat this as a serving suggestion, not medical advice; check with your paediatrician.

Our cultivation follows strict SOPs covering which natural sprays and fertilisers are used from flowering through harvest. The 100+ partner farmer families we work with across 55 villages manage orchards typically 12–25 years old, selected partly for Brix consistency across the alternate-bearing cycle.

Season and Availability

Fresh Alphonso is available February to June, with peak supply March to May. Kesar runs March to June. Outside these windows, we carry mango pulp, Aamras and other products year-round — but no fresh Hapus.

The 2026 season drew attention for yield pressure. Prashant Powle was interviewed by The Economic Times in June 2026 on weather impact and what a disrupted season means for a GI-certified grower (read the article). Tight supply in difficult years is exactly when provenance matters — unmarked fruit of unknown origin fills the gap fast.

Pre-orders open before the season starts. If your desired grade sells out, you will be notified by email. Pre-orders can be cancelled only before dispatch.
