Delivery Across India

How does home delivery work?

Orders placed before 12:00 noon IST on working days ship the same day. BlueDart air cargo handles every consignment. Transit is 1–3 days across India — Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune and 50+ other cities are serviceable.

Mangoes leave the orchard in Ratnagiri or Devgad slightly under-ripe. They ripen naturally in the insulated corrugated box during transit. Most customers receive fruit at perfect eating ripeness within 24–48 hours of delivery.

If fruit arrives unripe, leave it at room temperature for 1–2 days. Do not refrigerate unripe mangoes — cold stalls natural ripening and damages the flesh. If fruit arrives damaged, photograph it and contact us within 24 hours. We replace confirmed damage cases.

What cities receive Alphonso mango delivery?

BlueDart covers Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur and most tier-2 cities with air connectivity. Remote pin codes without BlueDart coverage are the one exception — we cannot guarantee 1–3 day delivery there.

Is shipping free?

Free shipping is included on all standard mango orders across India. No minimum cart value applies during the season.

Mango Varieties: Alphonso, Kesar, Payari

Features and Taste of Alphonso Mango from Devgad and Ratnagiri

Alphonso — known as Hapus in Konkan — is the benchmark Indian mango. Its flesh is fibreless, saffron-coloured, and melts on the tongue. The aroma is floral and deep. Brix reaches 20–24 °Brix in peak Devgad fruit, making it one of the sweetest mangoes measured anywhere in the world.

Ratnagiri Alphonso ripens slightly earlier — typically mid-March — giving it a brighter acidity that balances sweetness. Both origins share the same GI No. 139 certification and the same carbide-free ripening standard.

Why Kesar Mango Is a Must-Try — Saffron-Hued Pulp

Kesar originates from the Gir region of Gujarat. Its pulp is a vivid orange, thick, and aromatic — the name means saffron, a direct reference to colour. It is slightly less sweet than Alphonso but deeper in tropical fragrance. Season runs February to June (peak March to May). It is the preferred variety for Aamras.

The Unique Taste of Payari Mango

Payari is an early-season variety, often the first ripe mango of the year. It is smaller, tangier, and more fibrous than Alphonso. Konkan households use it fresh and in pickles. Availability is limited — supply exhausts fast in March and April.

Where Our Mangoes Come From

Hapus Aam from India — Alphonso mango orchards in Ratnagiri and Devgad Konkan Maharashtra

AlphonsoMango.in sources from 48 villages across Ratnagiri and Devgad talukas in Konkan, Maharashtra. Villages like Velas and Kelshi in Ratnagiri, and Devgad town surroundings in Sindhudurg district, represent our core procurement zones. The laterite soil, coastal humidity and seasonal rainfall pattern in this belt produce the concentration of sugars and aromas that no other Indian region replicates.

Prashant Powle personally selects orchards and grading criteria each season. Only fruit meeting minimum size (150 g), colour uniformity, and zero blemish standards passes grading. Roughly 15–20% of harvested fruit is rejected at the farm gate.

What is GI tagging and why does it matter for mangoes?

A Geographical Indication (GI) tag is a government-issued certification confirming that the product originates from a specific geography and meets defined quality standards. Ratnagiri Alphonso and Devgad Alphonso both carry GI No. 139, issued by the GI Registry of India. AlphonsoMango.in holds GI Authorised User status: AU/5974/GI/139/260, Registry Certificate 4163, dated 16 October 2019. This means every box we ship is traceable to a certified origin.

What is the Brix level of Devgad Alphonso?

Peak-season Devgad Alphonso measures 20–24 °Brix. Brix is the standard measure of dissolved sugars in fruit juice. A reading above 18 °Brix is considered premium for mango globally. Ratnagiri Alphonso typically measures 18 to 24 °Brix, with the lower end in early-season fruit and the upper end in late April.

Natural Ripening — No Carbide

Every mango we sell ripens naturally. Freshly harvested fruit is laid in beds of dry hay — a traditional Konkan practice called hay-bed ripening — at ambient orchard temperature. Ethylene released by the mangoes themselves triggers uniform ripening over 3–5 days. No calcium carbide, no artificial gas chambers.

Carbide-ripened mangoes ripen from outside in. The skin turns yellow while the core remains raw. Natural ripening is even — the flesh softens and sweetens uniformly from seed to skin. The difference is immediately apparent in texture and aftertaste.

How can I tell if a mango was ripened with carbide?

A carbide-ripened mango has an uneven skin colour — patches of green remain near the stem — and the flesh near the seed stays pale and firm even when the outer layer is soft. A naturally ripened Alphonso turns uniformly golden with no green patches and collapses gently to the touch at the shoulder.

Season, Storage and Honest Limits

When is the mango season in India?

The Alphonso season runs from mid-March to late May in Ratnagiri and extends to mid-June in Devgad. Kesar runs April to June. Outside this window — July through February — no fresh Alphonso or Kesar is available from our orchards. We do not stock or sell off-season fruit. Anyone offering fresh Alphonso in August is selling a different variety or a cold-stored product misrepresented as fresh-season Hapus.

How should I store mangoes at home?

Store unripe mangoes at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. Once ripe — the shoulder yields slightly and the stem end is fragrant — refrigerate and consume within 2–3 days. Whole ripe mangoes can be refrigerated for up to 5 days. Cut mango should be consumed the same day or stored in an airtight container for no more than 24 hours.

Nutrition and Health Benefits

One medium Alphonso mango (200 g) provides approximately 150 kcal, 35 g carbohydrates, 3 g fibre, 60% of daily Vitamin C requirement, and 35% of daily Vitamin A. It contains mangiferin — a polyphenol with documented antioxidant activity. The fibreless pulp is easy to digest, making Alphonso popular with children and elderly consumers.

Is mango good for diabetics?

Mango has a glycaemic index (GI) of 51–56, which places it in the low-to-moderate range. A single 100 g serving of Alphonso is generally considered acceptable for most type-2 diabetic patients in consultation with their physician. The high fibre content slows sugar absorption. Portion control matters — one to two pieces at a time, not a full dozen in one sitting.

We supply bulk quantities to offices, hotels, wedding caterers and corporate gifting programmes across India. Minimum quantities, custom packaging and branded box options are available.
