Delivery Across India
Fruit leaves the Ratnagiri or Devgad packhouse within 48–72 hours of harvest. The journey looks like this: about 2 hours from tree to packhouse, post-harvest cooling, 10–12 hours by air-conditioned vehicle to our Mumbai packhouse, 24–48 hours of natural hay-bed ripening there, then dispatch.
We courier via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code. We cover 15,000–17,000 serviceable pin codes. Metro cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune) typically receive the box in 20–24 hours. Other cities and towns take 1–3 days.
Fruit is dispatched at 70–80% ripeness — firm enough to travel, and fully ripe within about three days of delivery. The 5-ply corrugated fibreboard box has a 12-slot partition that carries transit pressure instead of the fruit. Each mango sits in a foam-net sleeve (flat width 50–55 mm, length 100–120 mm), which prevents skin friction scars — Alphonso lenticels blacken when rubbed — and stem punctures from neighbouring fruit. Six air holes top and bottom keep airflow during ripening.
We do not deliver fresh Alphonso between July and January. That is the honest limit: the trees rest, and no stored or cold-blended fruit leaves our packhouse.
If a box arrives with transit damage or quality failure, photograph or video the fruit and packaging and send it to us on WhatsApp within 24 hours of delivery. No physical return is needed. We dispatch a fresh replacement or credit your account for the next purchase.
How to Order in Three Steps
- Select grade and variety. Choose Ratnagiri or Devgad Alphonso. Pick your weight grade — Small (150–180 g) starts from ₹1,849 a dozen; Extra Large (250–275 g) and Jumbo (275–300 g) grades are priced higher. If you want a gift box, note that 18% of our orders are gifts, so the packaging is designed for it.
- Add to cart and check your pin code. The site confirms serviceability. Box options are half dozen, one dozen and two dozen.
- Dispatch and track. Your order ships via BlueDart, Delhivery, Ekart or XpressBees depending on your pin code, with a tracking link sent by SMS and email. Most metros receive delivery in 20–24 hours; other cities within 1–3 days.
How to Know If Your Alphonso Is Genuine
Three things distinguish a real Ratnagiri or Devgad Hapus from a generic "Alphonso" sold in the off-season or sourced from outside Konkan.
GI certification and Authorised User status
Any seller can print "Alphonso" on a box. Only sellers registered as Authorised Users under GI No. 139 with the GI Registry of India can legally label the fruit as GI-tagged Alphonso. Our number is AU/5974/GI/139/260. Ask any seller for theirs.
Season window
Fresh Alphonso is available February to June. Fruit sold outside this window is either cold-stored and blended, or not Alphonso at all. We stop selling in June and reopen pre-orders for the following year. No exceptions.
Brix and aroma at ripeness
A ripe Ratnagiri or Devgad Hapus measures 18 to 24° Brix. The aroma — a rich, almost floral sweetness — is present before you cut the fruit. If the skin smells of nothing, or carries an acrid chemical edge, the fruit was likely ripened with calcium carbide. Our fruit goes through natural hay-bed (Aadi) ripening only, in temperature-controlled rooms at the Mumbai packhouse. No ethylene chambers, no carbide, no artificial agents.
What about internal quality checks?
Every fruit is weighed and graded at our Malvan packing centre or the Devgad packing point. AI/ML-assisted machine scanning checks each mango for internal defects — including spongy tissue — and external deformities before it enters the foam-net sleeve. Fruit that fails the scan does not ship.
How We Ripen Our Mangoes
Prashant Powle sourced the hay-bed practice from the orchards themselves — growers in villages like Pawas, Golap and Jamsande have used it for generations. At our Mumbai packhouse, fruit rests on a hay bed for 24–48 hours in a temperature-controlled room. The hay regulates moisture, the room maintains temperature, and the mango's own ethylene does the work. Nothing else enters the room.
This is worth contrasting with what happens at low-cost fruit markets: a calcium carbide sachet tucked into the crate overnight forces uniform yellow colour in under 12 hours but leaves the flavour compounds undeveloped. Carbide-ripened Hapus looks ripe; it does not taste ripe. Our Brix at dispatch is 18–24° — that number cannot be faked with a gas.
Where Our Alphonso Comes From
We source from 55 named villages across Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts. In Devgad taluka alone: Devgad, Jamsande, Vijaydurg, Dahibav, Hindale, Naringre, Kanyabag, Padel, Girye, Rameshwar, Waghotan, Kunkeshwar, Mithbav, Katwan, Aare, Shirgaon, Tambaldeg, Ilve, Munge, Khavane, Tiravade, Koregaon, Baparde and Mandivali. In Ratnagiri taluka: Pawas, Golap, Nachane, Mavalange, Waravade, Purnagad, Gaonkhadi, Ambeshet, Shirgaon, Mirya, Kalbadevi, Majgaon, Kasheli and Adi.
Our 100+ partner farmer families work orchards that are typically 12–25 years old, selected on Brix consistency, tree longevity and alternate-bearing management. Cultivation follows strict SOPs covering natural sprays and fertilisers from flowering through harvest. We hand-harvest using a Nutan/Zela pole fitted with a catching net and cutting mechanism — the tree is never shaken and fruit never falls to the ground.
Ratnagiri Alphonso won the Gold Medal at the national One District One Product (ODOP) Awards 2024. That is a district-product award, not one specific to our brand, but it confirms what buyers across 47,000+ orders already know: Konkan Hapus is in a category of its own.
Nutrition
Ripe Alphonso pulp contains roughly 30–36 mg of vitamin C per 100 g. A 100 g serving meets about 40–45% of the ICMR-NIN 2020 RDA for adult men (80 mg/day) and about 50% for adult women (65 mg/day). The antioxidant mangiferin, which shows anti-inflammatory activity in cell studies (Govindappa et al., 2011), is present in the pulp and skin.
Alphonso is high in fibre, vitamins A and E, and natural sugars that hit the palate cleanly at 18–24° Brix — sweet without the watery thinness of lesser varieties. Alphonso puree is suitable for babies from about 6 months as a serving suggestion; if your child has specific dietary needs, ask your paediatrician.

AlphonsoMango.in prices GI-tagged Ratnagiri and Devgad Alphonso by the dozen, not by the kilogram. One dozen Small grade fruit (150–180 g each) starts at ₹1,849.
